EMDR Intensives in Austin, TX

You understand your patterns. You’ve talked about them, maybe for years. But knowing why hasn’t made them stop. An EMDR intensive gives you focused, uninterrupted time to heal what weekly therapy keeps circling, in person at our Austin offices, with an identity-affirming therapist who gets it.

What is an EMDR intensive?

An EMDR intensive condenses months of therapy into a few focused days. At Colors of Austin Counseling, every intensive pairs EMDR with Internal Family Systems (IFS) and takes place in person at our Austin offices. Choose a Half-Day Intensive for $1,500, a 3-Day Intensive for $4,800 or a 5-Day Intensive for $7,500. Your consultation, preparation session and integration session are included.

Why choose an intensive over weekly sessions?

Weekly sessions spend time catching up, settling in and closing down. In an intensive, that time goes to the work itself, with breaks, grounding and follow-up built in so you are never rushed.

12 hours
in 3 days

of EMDR would take about 3 to 4 months in weekly sessions.

1–5 days
you choose

From a half day for one specific memory to a full week for layered experiences.

1 month
later, we check in

A 60-minute integration session helps new beliefs hold and plans your next steps.

Our approach

How is a COAC EMDR intensive different?

Most EMDR intensives focus on reprocessing memories alone. Every COAC intensive pairs EMDR with Internal Family Systems (IFS), and each clinician adds a third approach, so the work goes deeper and feels safer.

Every intensive

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing helps your brain reprocess the memories behind beliefs like “I’m not enough,” so they lose their emotional charge and new beliefs can take hold.

Every intensive

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Works with the protective parts of you that control, avoid or criticize to keep you safe, so they can step back and let healing happen. When a part isn’t ready, we don’t force it.

With Vanessa

Shame resilience

Based on Dr. Brené Brown’s research, this helps you name shame, understand where it comes from, and respond to yourself with courage and compassion instead of hiding.

With Maria

Somatic Experiencing

Helps your body release stored stress and survival responses, so healing happens in your nervous system, not just in your thinking.

The goal is always the same: more choice in how you think, feel and act, instead of being driven by old pain or protective patterns.

Is this right for me?

Who is an EMDR intensive for?

It may be a fit if you are

  • A high-achieving BIPOC professional who carries a lot, often quietly
  • Stuck in perfectionism, people-pleasing, over-functioning or a harsh inner critic
  • Still gripped by a specific memory, event or season of life
  • A therapist, helper or entrepreneur who holds space for everyone else
  • Someone who has gained insight in talk therapy and wants the change to finally land

It may not be the right step yet if you

  • Are in an active crisis
  • Need a higher level of care
  • Don’t have support in the days after

Your consultation helps us decide together. If an intensive isn’t the right fit yet, we’ll recommend what is.

EMDR intensive FAQs

How much does an EMDR intensive cost?

The Half-Day Intensive is $1,500, the 3-Day Intensive is $4,800 and the 5-Day Intensive is $7,500. Every package includes a consultation, a preparation session, a personalized workbook and an integration session.

Does insurance cover EMDR intensives?

Intensives are private pay. We provide a superbill for the preparation and integration sessions, which may be partly reimbursable. Many clients use HSA or FSA funds.

How is your approach different?

We combine EMDR with Internal Family Systems (IFS), so protective parts feel safe enough for EMDR to work. Vanessa adds shame resilience work based on Dr. Brené Brown’s research, and Maria adds Somatic Experiencing to help your body release stored stress.

Is an EMDR intensive safe?

Your clinician screens for fit during the consultation and preparation session, and builds in breaks, grounding and follow-up. If an intensive isn’t the right step yet, we’ll recommend what is.

Can I do an intensive if I already have a therapist?

Yes. You can do an intensive alongside your regular therapy. With your permission, we can coordinate with your therapist before and after.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

We prefer to reschedule, and we’ll make every effort to find new dates. Cancellations must be made at least 3 days before your intensive begins, and emergencies receive a full refund. If you and your therapist decide during the preparation session that an intensive isn’t the right fit, we’ll offer a refund or an alternative treatment plan.

Where do intensives take place?

In person at either of our Austin offices: Berkman Dr in Windsor Park or Marathon Blvd in Rosedale.

Can I do EMDR in weekly sessions instead?

Yes. Several COAC clinicians offer EMDR therapy in regular weekly sessions. An intensive is for people who want focused, uninterrupted time to go deeper, faster.
