Family therapy can be useful for both parents and families wanting to build stronger family relationships and support in navigating life challenges and transitions.

Family therapy can strengthen communication, understanding, and empathy among family members, leading to healthier and more connected relationships. It provides a supportive environment for addressing and resolving conflicts, helping families develop effective problem-solving and coping skills. How It Works

Family therapy involves multiple members of a family meeting with a therapist. In family therapy sessions, the therapist works on building rapport with the family unit and supports the family on working towards their goals. Family therapy sessions are typically 50-55 minutes in length. The format of family therapy is flexible and can be adapted to meet the unique needs of each family.

It can be hard to know what to expect in your first family therapy session. Your therapist will make sure to build a safe and caring space for all family members to feel connected and supported. There is no one definition of family, and the term “family” is broadly defined in family therapy. The decision about who attends family therapy is usually made collaboratively between the family members and your therapist. The inclusivity of family therapy allows for a tailored approach to addressing the unique dynamics and challenges of each family.
