Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing Therapy is a holistic practice that incorporates the body and sensations in the body in the therapeutic process. Stress and trauma are stored in the body and can cause physical symptoms. Somatic experiencing aims to relieve the physical tolls of stress on the body and release stored emotions and traumas.

How It Works

Somatic Experiencing Therapy incorporates various mind-body techniques within the session. It uses different techniques to bring about bodily awareness and name the sensations associated with certain thoughts and feelings. It uses various resources to help you find safety in your body, and it incorporates different talk therapy techniques while focusing on your bodily sensations simultaneously. Sessions are typically 50-55 minutes in length and can take place in an office, virtually or in outside spaces (known as ecotherapy) that support privacy and confidentiality.
