Individual Therapy

Individual therapy, also known as counseling or psychotherapy, is a collaborative process between a licensed therapist and an individual seeking support. In a confidential and supportive environment, you are invited to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors to gain insight, cope with challenges and work towards personal growth.

Ecotherapy

Ecotherapy is a therapeutic approach that recognizes the healing relationship between humans and the natural world. Rooted in our deep connection to our environments, ecotherapy intentionally brings nature into the therapeutic process to support emotional regulation, self-reflection, and healing.

Couples Therapy

As humans, it is our nature to seek out feelings of connection so we feel seen and heard by one another. The narratives we receive from our childhood, or relational experiences, can shape our worldview, which then affects how we show up in adult relationships.

Faith-Based Therapy

Faith can be a powerful source of strength, hope, and healing. For clients who desire it, I offer faith-based therapy that thoughtfully integrates biblical beliefs with evidence-based, trauma-informed mental health care. This approach honors the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and creates space for God’s presence in the healing process.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a form of therapy that focuses on improving communication and resolving conflicts within a family system. The main goal of family therapy is to help family members understand each other better, enhance your relationships and create
a healthier family dynamic.

Child Play Therapy

Child-centered play therapy is an approach to therapy that centers your child’s natural language: play. Children communicate through play, and in play therapy, your child has the opportunity to “talk” and process their experiences in a developmentally appropriate way that honors their language.

Sex Therapy

Humans are sexual beings and that fact is often not directly addressed in therapeutic spaces. If you are having sexual intimacy challenges as an individual or in partnership, sex therapy seeks to address those challenges and support you in attaining the sexual life and expression that aligns with who you are.

Teens & Young Adults

Psychotherapy (sometimes called talk therapy or therapy) refers to a variety of treatments that aim to help teens and young adults that struggle identifying and navigating troubling emotions, negative thoughts and unhealthy behaviors/habits that impact their daily life and relationships with others.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy technique that enables you to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that is the result of distressing life experiences. The EMDR process mimics the Rapid Eye movement (REM) sleep cycle while alert, present and thinking about the distressing event. This process helps to activate the brain's natural healing process.

EMDR Intensives

At Colors of Austin Counseling, we are committed to providing specialized, transformative therapy experiences. Our EMDR Intensives, currently offered in person by Vanessa Newton, LCSW-S, and are designed to help you heal from distressing life experiences through an immersive and comprehensive approach.

TCYM Therapy

The Trauma-Conscious Yoga Method℠ (TCYM) is a healing modality that integrates trauma-informed yoga and somatic psychotherapy practices. TCYM is an inclusive model that we make accessible for all people and all bodies.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing Therapy is a holistic practice that incorporates the body and sensations in the body in the therapeutic process. Stress and trauma are stored in the body and can cause physical symptoms. Somatic experiencing aims to relieve the physical tolls of stress on the body and release stored emotions and traumas.

our team

Empowering individuals on their healing journeys.

We created Colors of Austin Counseling to be a group of like-minded BIPOC practitioners serving the community of individuals with identities and backgrounds similar to our own. Being fully understood and seen on your healing journey is of the utmost importance, yet it can be difficult for BIPOC individuals to find trusted therapists in their community. Our diverse and experienced team exists to fill that void and provide individuals with a wide range of methods and practitioners to choose from based on their unique needs and mental health goals.
