During the process we explore topics such as vulnerability, courage, shame and worthiness. We examine the thoughts, emotions and behaviors that are holding us back, and we identify the new choices and practices that will move us toward more authentic and wholehearted living. The primary focus is on developing shame resilience skills and daily practices that transform the way we live, love, parent and lead.

The Daring Way™ is suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds. Because the goal of this model is to support you in developing shame resilience and practicing vulnerability and courage to live an authentic life, it can be supportive to anyone wanting to work on feelings of low self worth, shame, anxiety, perfectionism, overfunctioning as a way of life, people pleasing and offloading hurt onto others.

Overall, participants tend to feel an increased sense of worthiness and are able to practice vulnerability at a higher rate and lead courageous lives, whether it be in their relationships with others or with themselves.

How It Works

The Daring Way™ can be facilitated through individual therapy, group therapy, workshops, events and retreats. Concepts of the model are taught through a range of curriculums based on the teachings and research of Dr. Brené Brown, including Daring Greatly, Dare to Lead, The Gifts of Imperfection, Rising Strong and Atlas of the Heart. Your therapist will pull from either one of these curriculums and teach concepts, provide worksheets and might even provide you with video content to watch. These curriculums also invite an opportunity for you to access your creativity by engaging in art activities related to specific lessons within each curriculum. As you dive into the content of The Daring Way™ model, you will begin to process how this connects to your experience and your life as a way to find meaning and develop shame resilience.

Empowering individuals on their healing journeys.

We created Colors of Austin Counseling to be a group of like-minded BIPOC practitioners serving the community of individuals with identities and backgrounds similar to our own. Being fully understood and seen on your healing journey is of the utmost importance, yet it can be difficult for BIPOC individuals to find trusted therapists in their community. Our diverse and experienced team exists to fill that void and provide individuals with a wide range of methods and practitioners to choose from based on their unique needs and mental health goals.
