One of my deepest core beliefs is in the inherent worthiness and dignity of all people, regardless of who they are or where they come from. This belief led me to pursue social work and has been the foundation of a career that has spanned work in schools, emergency rooms, nonprofits, and therapy rooms. I’m passionate about therapy’s ability to help us understand ourselves more deeply, unlearn the things that have made us question our worth, and build lives where we feel more whole, happy, and well.

I approach therapy as a collaboration between therapist and client, and I pull from modalities that help us better understand who we are, why we show up the way we do, and how we might exist in the world a little easier. My practice utilizes elements of attachment theory, somatic and mind-body practices, shame resilience, and skill-based modalities like dialectical behavior therapy. I think from a systems lens: I view a person within the context of all of the different systems and relationships we exist within, and think about how those systems contribute to or detract from our ability to be healthy and happy and well. In my work with couples and partners, I approach relationship therapy as an opportunity to create a shared language and new meeting points between partners.

My work is relational, warm, (sometimes) playful, and rooted in a deep respect for your lived experience and the authority you hold as the expert of your own life. I don’t believe therapy has to look one “right” way, and it’s not uncommon to find me doing therapy on the floor, making bracelets alongside my clients, or while we take a walk around the neighborhood.

Ultimately, I believe the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is one of the most powerful parts of therapy. I aim to co-create an hour each week where your nervous system relaxes and you have space to be you without everyone else’s expectations.

I’ve lived in Austin for 15 years, and outside of the therapy room I do life with my partners and our two kids. You’ll often find us hiking the greenbelt, eating sushi, or road-tripping to our next national park. I’m a passionate hobby potter and I hope to begin sharing my pottery at markets soon (my friends and family have told me they’re officially overstocked on mugs!). I also love the live music scene in Austin and I’m always excited to catch a show at Stubb’s or any of the other great venues around town. My favorite spots in Austin are people-watching at Jo’s on South Congress or eating sushi at Ichiban, and a perfect Saturday afternoon is a movie at Alamo Drafthouse or time at the pottery studio.

Favorite self-care tip

Move your body, somehow! Movement helps ‘move’ through and metabolize so many experiences and emotions that tend to otherwise settle into our nervous system. It doesn’t need to be high impact or ‘exercise’ (though it can be!) — whether you do a few jumping jacks, go for a walk, or just shake out your arms for a minute, movement helps your body process anxiety, sadness, stress, and so many other emotions.

Favorite quote or affirmation

“Every body is a good body.”

I feel most calm & content when

I’m creating something with my hands — bonus points if it’s messy, like pottery, so that it prevents me from using my phone for an extended period of time.

I love learning about

Therapy related: the interconnectedness between the mind and the body, especially neuroscience! Non-therapy related: whatever my current hyperfixation is (currently: crochet!)
