An Interactive Storytime & Workshop with Claudia Hernandez Vargas, LCSW

Join us at BookPeople for a joyful and confidence-building session designed to help children celebrate who they are!
The Story We will begin with a live reading of I Like Myself! by Karen Beaumont, illustrated by David Catrow. This playful and energetic story encourages children to love themselves just as they are—inside and out. With humor and imagination, it reminds us that messy hair, loud laughter, and all our unique qualities are worth celebrating.
The Workshop Following the story, Claudia Hernandez Vargas, LCSW, will lead a hands-on self-love activity. Children will create their own self-portrait and identify three things they like about themselves. They may choose to write their ideas or share them with a loved one. This interactive activity encourages children to recognize their strengths, build self-awareness, and express what makes them unique—all while practicing fine motor skills in a fun and creative way.
Why Attend? This event supports Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) by helping children develop confidence, self-acceptance, and a positive sense of identity. Families will leave with simple tools to continue encouraging self-love and affirmation at home.
