I AM A LOCAL THERAPIST, IN PRACTICE SINCE 2011.

I have a deep conviction that people have an ability to heal and are worth the effort to do so. I hold that change and healing are created through building healthy relationships and in believing in our own self-worth. I work with people seeking meaning, connection, and in need of effective coping strategies.

  • Bachelors of Science in Social Work

  • Masters of Science in Social Work

PROFESSIONAL

I have primarily worked with people in crises, seeking meaning, connection, and in need of effective coping strategies. With them, I have assisted families with issues ranging from education of mental illness to relationship-building.

As a social worker at an inpatient psychiatric hospital, I worked with children, adolescents, and their families with every issue that precipitates hospitalization. This setting taught me about people's resilience and willingness, despite crises, trauma, and pain. With adults in outpatient therapy, I have addressed issues of belonging, depression, relationships and challenging life transitions. During my education, I worked at other levels of care - a partial hospitalization program and residential treatment facility.

APPROACH TO THERAPY

I utilize the mind-body connection, DBT skills, attachment, neurobiology, and our working relationship to build trust and offer insight. I hold a safe, authentic space, while challenging the ideas or behaviors that no longer serve you. I recognize that each behavior has value in helping you navigate issues - from addictions and aggression to suicidality and low self-esteem. I work with you to navigate acceptance and change, while teaching skills we all need to build on our inherent strength and worthiness.

WHY ALEX DOES THIS WORK

I'm an empath and born HSP (highly sensitive person), so I was naturally drawn toward supporting other people. Connecting is easy for me; great education, mentors, and my own journey equipped me with necessary knowledge, skills, and boundaries to be an effective therapist. I find fulfillment in helping others live a values-driven life and address barriers to wholehearted living.
