PROFESSIONAL

Hi, I'm Tan Tidwell, a Licensed Master Social Worker dedicated to empowering individuals across various stages of their lives. Having served in the US Air Force, I bring a unique perspective to my practice, underpinned by caring, compassion, empathy, and a deep commitment to social justice. My approach is deeply rooted in fostering empowerment, emphasizing human development, and valuing relationship orientation to support and uplift those I work with.

With a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Houston-Downtown, complemented by minors in Sociology and Criminal Justice, and a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Houston, my academic foundation is strong and diverse. My eight years of experience in the field of people service, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of more than 20 care services, enable me to offer insightful and impactful support. This background has equipped me to embrace and address the multifaceted nature of the challenges faced by those I serve.

APPROACH TO THERAPY

In my therapy sessions, I prioritize creating a safe environment that fosters healing and personal growth. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy, where spiritual, emotional, and psychological dimensions are intertwined, addressing the needs of the whole person. My practice is solution-focused, aiming to unlock my clients' inherent strengths and capabilities to overcome challenges. Specializing in intergenerational relationships, crisis intervention, grief and loss, and employing de-escalation techniques when necessary, I tailor my approach to meet each client's unique needs.

I address issues related to stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and loss, as well as the emotional challenges accompanying physical and mental health concerns. My methods are diverse, integrating various therapeutic techniques to enhance life skills, improve relationships, and nurture spiritual well-being, all while focusing on human development and fostering meaningful connections.

PERSONAL

When I'm not in a therapy session, I'm probably immersed in the worlds of Star Trek, Harry Potter, Marvel, John Wick and shows alike. A fan of action and comedy, and I also cherish the moments spent listening to audiobooks, attending church, or enjoying quality time with friends and family. Known for sending my favorite GIFs, cracking mom-jokes, and baking, I believe in the joy of simple pleasures.

Whether you're dealing with life's challenges or seeking to improve your well-being, I'm here to support your journey towards healing and self-discovery.
