Colors of Austin Counseling is seeking a passionate and dedicated Play Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be either fully licensed or provisionally licensed and have a strong background in play therapy techniques. The Play Therapist will be responsible for providing therapeutic services to a diverse client population, with a focus on children and adolescents, in our East Austin office. This individual must be able to conduct in-person sessions and be proficient in telehealth services when necessary. The Clinical Therapist must provide a minimum of 20 billable hours per week. The Clinical Therapist shall be responsible for maintaining all required licensure, education and supervision required by the Behavioral Health Executive Council. The Clinical Therapist shall report directly to the Clinical Director.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Perform and bill a minimum of 20 billable hours per week in addition to administrative duties as assigned. 

  • Conduct individual play therapy sessions with children and adolescents, addressing various mental health concerns and behavioral issues.

  • Collaborate with clients and their families to develop treatment plans and goals.

  • Collaborate with a client’s treatment team (i.e., PCP, psychiatrist, school, etc.) as necessary.

  • Respond to scheduled client sessions made by the Client Care Coordinator within 24 business hours whether such requests are made in person, by phone, voicemail, etc. or through the Colors of Austin Counseling website.

  • Respond to such requests by meeting, evaluating, and providing services to such clients.

  • Attend monthly team meetings, monthly clinical consultation and bi-monthly professional development workshops as indicated

  • Complete all clinical documentation within 24 hours of completed encounters. This includes, but is not limited to: intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, client contact notes.

  • Ensure payment from clients for services provided are consistent with the policy and rate for such services as established by the practice.

  • Flexibly schedule sessions throughout the week, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate client needs.

  • Utilize the fully furnished and supplied play therapy room, as well as other therapy rooms, for sessions with clients of all ages.

  • Participate in mandatory meetings, administrative tasks, and business development activities as required.

  • Understand and take an active, independent role in improving commitment to the community by networking with fellow clinicians, agencies and organizations in the community. 

  • Complete a minimum of 1 Macro Level community initiative per year. Options of what can be considered are: blog posts, social media content creation, therapeutic support group, webinar, workshop, networking. Clinicians are welcome to identify other community initiatives meaningful to them to engage in.

  • Understand and follow all policies and procedures of Colors of Austin Counseling as a Clinician. 

  • Adhere to all professional and ethical standards set forth by the counseling board and the company.

  • Be respectful of and cooperative and collaborative with co-workers. 

  • Collaborate with the other members of leadership on improving overall client and employee experience. 

  • Set professional goals and develop achievable timelines to hit them. 

  • Other duties as they may be assigned. 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master's degree or higher in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.

  • Active, unrestricted license (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT or LPC) in the State of Texas or actively working towards full licensure. Verification of license must be provided to Colors of Austin Counseling.

  • Specialization or certification in play therapy preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a clinical setting with children and adolescents.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Proficiency in utilizing telehealth platforms for virtual sessions.

  • Requirement to be an approved in-network provider on at least one Colors of Austin Counseling-affiliated insurance panel. We are currently paneled with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna.

  • Alignment with mission, vision, and values of the practice

  • Understanding of administrative and clinical positions and functions. 

  • Knowledge of client experience, goals and how to achieve client satisfaction. 

  • Be organized and detail oriented. 

  • Be a team player. 

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to write reports identifying client goals, outcomes and interventions. 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow relevant office procedures surrounding HIPAA. 

  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit in becoming an established clinician in private practice 

  • Valid driver’s license

Environment: 

Sessions will take place virtually and in person at our offices.


Compensation:

$60,343 - $93,636 a year - Full-time
