If you’re seeking therapy, you might be feeling overwhelmed, distressed or out of control. You might be struggling with unhealthy relationships, complex family dynamics, or simply seeking to understand why you feel the way you do. Perhaps, you are a concerned parent seeking support for your child or you are unsure of how to direct your child’s behavior in an appropriate and effective way. You might be an adult struggling with the pain from your own childhood and the impact it continues to have on your daily life. Regardless of where you are in your journey, I would love to walk alongside you and help you find peace and resolution.

My name is Meagan Read and I am a psychotherapist based in Austin, Texas. I am open-minded, compassionate, warm and relatable in my work with clients. It is very important to me that you feel understood, safe and cared about in our work together. I utilize an integrative approach, which means that I tailor treatment to the unique and specific needs of each client, incorporating a variety of different techniques into my work.

I am passionate about helping children and adolescents navigate complex emotions, low self-esteem and the tough stuff life can present. I specialize in working with individuals with a history of trauma, abuse, attachment disruption and family of origin issues. I believe healing from our past traumas can significantly enhance our health, self-esteem, relationships and overall quality of life. I guide clients in understanding how their past impacts their present. Through our work together, my clients discover the underlying causes of unhealthy behavior patterns and relationship dynamics and develop the tools needed to make lasting change.

I also specialize in working with individuals of all ages diagnosed with ADHD. Oftentimes children with ADHD struggle with behavioral issues, low self-esteem and other mental health disorders. I provide play therapy for these children and parent coaching and support for their parents. Please see below for more information on my background, services and areas of expertise.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M University, followed by a Masters of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience working with children (ages 3 and up), adolescents, adults, parents, couples, and families through my work in a variety of settings. These settings include residential treatment, foster care, psychiatric inpatient, mental health clinics, the juvenile probation department, school settings and private practice. It is through these experiences that I have been recognized for my natural ability to foster connection and trust with the most challenging and resistant children and teens.
