Originally from The Golden State, I now happily reside in Austin Texas.  I have lived in Texas for the past 10 years in both San Antonio and Austin, and have fallen in love with the charm of the South.  I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2012, a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Mary’s University in 2015 and I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision.  In pursuing my education for the past decade, I have been granted the opportunity to work in a wide range of settings to include several non-profit organizations, private practice, private school, within the correctional system and in substance abuse treatment facilities. Because of these various experiences, my clientele has been extremely diverse- from children as young as 4 years old to adults over 90 years old.

I am a passionate scholar-practitioner in the field of clinical mental health psychotherapy who divides my time between clinical practice and scholarly writing and research.  In my clinical practice, I deliver cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence based treatments to clients of all ages. I find it gratifying to introduce clients to CBT.  I have had the privilege of witnessing dramatic transformations using CBT techniques in clients struggling with a wide range of emotional, behavioral and adjustment problems, crises, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, trauma, stress, addiction, transitional struggles and relationship issues.

I whole-heartedly believe in the power of positivity and the notion that each individual has the ability to create the life they desire.  We may not be able to control everything that life throws our way, but we can control how we respond to such situations by focusing on positive attitudes, thoughts and behaviors.  While everyone’s process is unique, we all have moments of self-doubt. The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any. I am here to help you challenge those negative thoughts you have regarding your own abilities while providing a safe, compassionate environment.

The services I provide are authentic and genuine.  The relationships I have with my clients are very important to me as I aim for each and every one to feel understood, respected, supported, valued and empowered.  The process within the therapy I provide is highly collaborative. I am not here to tell you what to do, but to offer as much guidance as you feel comfortable with as we figure things out together.

I am eager to connect with you while sharing my experience as you begin to address issues that will help you improve your quality of life and attain a greater sense of fulfillment.  In working with me you will be able to identify the negative thoughts, emotions and behaviors that stop you from living up to your full potential. You will learn how to take control of situations instead of letting them control you in a way you may have never thought possible.  I am here to guide you towards a life of authenticity as you embrace the power of your own journey.

With the Kindest Regards,

Alexis
